1. Academic Background:

1.1 Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering (Ph.D.): The Bradley Department of Electrical Engineering - Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). Ph.D. Dissertation: "Synthesis of Dual Offset Gregorian Reflector Antennas With Very Low Cross Polarization Under Practical Constraints for Mass Production", Blacksburg, Virginia - USA, June 1995.
1.2 Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (M.S.E.E.): Department of Electrical Engineering - University of Brasilia (UnB). Master’s Thesis: "Optimization of Wire Antennas Through the Modified Gradient Method", Brasilia, DF - Brazil, July 1991.
1.3 Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (B.S.E.E.): Department of Electrical Engineering - University of Brasilia (UnB). Undergraduate Project: "Analysis of Transmission Line Structures by the Finite Element Method", Brasilia, DF - Brazil, September 1989.

2. Professional Experience:

2.1 Associate Professor: Dept. of Electrical Engineering at the University of Brasilia - Brazil (1995 to 1998 and 2004 to present) and Dept. of Electrical Engineering at New Mexico State University (NMSU), Las Cruces – USA (2001 to 2004). Main responsibilities include teaching courses on Antennas, Communication Systems, Electromagnetics and Electromagnetic Compatibility, as well as conducting research and advising students within the fields of antennas and wireless communication systems. Dr. Terada was the Chairman of the graduate program for the term 2007/2008 and has also held other administrative positions, such as Head of the committee for the revision of the Electromagnetics curriculum and laboratories at the University of Brasilia, and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Microwaves, Optoelectronics and Electromagnetic Applications. Dr. Terada has been a consultant and coordinator of various projects and grants from ACEL (Brazilian National Association of Cellular Operators), CAPES Foundation (Ministry of Education of Brazil) and CNPq (Brazilian National Research Council). Dr. Terada spent 3 months in 2012 at the University of Stellenbosch working with the South African radio telescope reflector antennas KAT-7 and MeerKAT/SKA (Square Kilometer Array).
2.2 Senior Engineer/INTELSAT IX Antenna Manager: with the Satellite Systems Engineering dept. of INTELSAT - International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (Sep. 1998 to April 2001). Dr. Terada was involved with the definition, procuring, negotiation, and supervising of the manufacturing, testing and acceptance of all antennas of the INTELSAT IX program (seven C- and Ku-band satellites built by Space Systems/Loral, Astrium and Alcatel/Thales, currently flying in synchronous orbits around the earth and functioning properly) and INTELSAT Broadband Ka program. In addition, Dr. Terada was the technical manager of antenna related R&D projects and supported the INTELSAT Frequency Management dept. with respect to the presentation and defense of INTELSAT positions at the ITU – International Telecommunications Union.
